Cardology Case Study #6: How 6♦️ Emma Thompson used her A♥️ Saturn Card to Find Self-love

Saturn is usually the "cringe planet" that's associated with sickness and responsibility, however, the Saturn card serves its purpose in cardology just like every other planetary card placement. If you heed its lessons, your Saturn card has a lot of powerful healing opportunities. Emma Thompson did an excellent job of showcasing this in her most recent film "Good Luck to You, Leo Grande". This movie was a reflection of her own Saturn card and Saturn life phase.

"The best thing you can do is learn to appreciate your Saturn card for what it's trying to do for you, not to you."

What is the point of healing?

Many of us are walking around feeling "fine". Fine with our bodies, our minds, our spirits, and the general direction of life. But what does "fine" really mean? And is it enough to motivate us to find joy throughout our life?

Abraham Hicks, a strong force in the spiritual wellness community, says that we should be on a constant quest for joy. We should focus on doing things that make us happy and help us have the most fulfilling life possible. The thing is . . . if we are constantly angry, in pain, or in doubt, and we've always been this way, joy doesn't seem like a priority. Survival, at that point, seems to be the only thing that matters.

When you prioritize healing you prioritize living. You finally make the decision that you are ready to release the things that no longer serve you. You eliminate your addictions, you accept your trauma as a part of your life, and you become disciplined in living a life that is worthy of you.

Emma Thompson and her Saturn Card

Emma Thompson is a British actress well known for her roles in Harry Potter, Nanny Mcphee, Cruella, and Matilda. Her acting range is undeniably one of the best of her time. You would never know based on any of her roles that she had a lifelong battle with self-love.

Thompson was born on April 15th, 1959. This makes her birth card a 6♦️ and her Saturn card an A♥️. This Saturn card has a specific job to teach the 6♦️ how to stop seeking outside validation and learn to love themselves. It is a journey that takes a tiring amount of discipline to even feel half successful.

This video goes into more detail about the Saturn Card:

Now that you know about the Saturn Card, let's talk about the Saturn phases.

The Saturn Phase of your Life

While the Saturn card shows us how we work and heal, it also foreshadows what events we can expect during a specific time in our lives. Everyone has the same Saturn phase of life between the ages 52 - 64. This is a time of intense healing as well as elevation in our work lives.

Most times people select jobs that reflect areas of their lives that need healing and Thompson is no exception. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is a movie about a widow, Nancy, who hires a sex worker for her own pleasure. Nancy suffers a lot of anxiety about sex, vulnerability, and understanding her own value. This movie was completed toward the end of Thompson's Saturn life phase at the age of 63. Thompson has been very open about her own emotional connection to the role.

“If I stand in front of a mirror, I’m always sort of pulling something, or I’ll turn to the side, I’ll do something. I can’t just stand there. Why would I do that, it’s horrifying,” Thompson said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “But that’s the problem, isn’t it, that women have been brainwashed all lives to hate our bodies. That’s just the fact. And everything that surrounds us reminds us how imperfect we are, and everything is wrong with us.” (Read the full article HERE)

As she closes out the end of her Saturn phase of life, Thompson just completed an intense interview with The New Yorker reviewing her entire work and professional life up until this point. Most people are focusing on how Thompson speaks openly about the heartbreak of her first marriage and the joy she has found in her second:

“I was utterly, utterly blind to the fact that he had relationships with other women on set,” she said. “What I learned was how easy it is to be blinded by your own desire to deceive yourself.”

Thompson compared her emotional mess to shattered dishes. “I was half alive. Any sense of being a lovable or worthy person had gone completely,” she said. The person “who picked up the pieces and put them back together” was the actor (current husband) Greg Wise . . . “I’ve learned more from my second marriage just by being married,” she said. The Saturn Phase of your Year

Every 52 days you enter a new planetary phase. During these phases you learn lessons and experience life events related to the energy of each phase. In the photo below, you'll see Thompson's phase calendar for the current year. She is currently in her Satun Phase. This is a time of the year where she is focused on her healing journey, her reputation in her career, setting boundaries and releasing things that no longer serve her.

Right now she has a Q♣️ as her primary card in her Saturn phase. The Q♣️ is the card of communication and intuition. The energy of Saturn phase be very burdensome and leaves messes to clean up later down the line.

Case and point - Thompson did a beautiful and in depth story with the New Yorker about her life and career. The only thing many of the other news companies focused on was her heartbreak from her divorce (over 27 years ago).

Thompson's second Saturn phase card, 3♠️, is showing that this focus may be more stressful than she is letting on. She will have to find peace during the next 52 days by focusing on her work and her art.

Accepting our Individual Healing Journey

Each one of us has a Saturn card that is trying to teach us lessons and help us heal so that we can have the life we deserve. Many of us don't like our Saturn cards. We dance around them until we are forced with a major life event that makes us reflect and grow.

Right now you may be resisting your own healing. That's ok, it's natural. It's natural to try to find pleasure when we are in pain. Our Saturn card forces us to face our pain, so often times we avoid the powerful influence of our Saturn card. The best thing you can do is learn to appreciate your Saturn card for what it's trying to do for you, not to you. This will take time, practice, and above all things patience. However, if you are open and consistent, you'd be amazed at the joy a healthy life can offer you.
